Beat the Summer Heat with A Caffeine Fix

Today, the heat is just unbearable.  We have a big (as in BIG) container of coffee that is just sitting there, begging to be mixed.  The problem with that coffee is that it tastes better when made hot, according to my husband. But let's face it... who in the world would want to drink hot coffee in this humidity?  So, to prove him wrong I made a little surprise for him.  Ice-cold coffee made from scratch and not bought in some hideously expensive coffee shop.

A word of caution, though: Magz and I love the taste of strong coffee, so feel free to reduce the ingredients by half if you want, except for the water and ice.

Ingredients:
1/4 cup of hot water
1 1/2 tsp coffee
3 tsp brown sugar
4 tablespoon creamer
1/8 tsp or a dash of vanilla syrup (optional)
1 tall glass full of ice

Mix the coffee, sugar, and creamer in hot water.  Make sure every single ingredient has dissolved.  Pour it into the glass of ice and mix until cold.  You may need to add more ice if needed.  I used cube ice for this, and I had to add 5 more ice cubes afterwards.  Add the splash of vanilla syrup, and enjoy.  It is important that the glass has only ice cubes in it or the coffee will not be as cold.

Note: you can substitute frozen milk for the water if you have calcium issues.  Of course, you will have to take out the creamer if you are to do this.
